Charlotte Lekhal
I was born in 1992 in Rouen (France), I first graduated in law at Rouen university, then I completed my second degree in genealogy at Corte University (Corsica) in 2015.
I first began my professional career at the Seine-Maritime archives and some years later, I worked as an archivist in Florence, at the Historical Archives of the European Union.
I discovered genealogy in 2010 while researching my ancestors and, ever since, I have helped many families rediscover their origins, their family secrets, their lost American cousins, obtain Italian citizenship and much more.
Ónoma genealogy
It is thrilling to realise that our existence is the consequence of the union of thousands of people from all around the world. It is enough to consider that, by only going back as far as the 1700s, each one of us has about one thousand lineal ascendants.
The very foundation of the Ònoma studio is the will to democratise the access to genealogy, modernise the practice and offer services and products that are innovative and characterised by just the right amount of a woman’s touch at the right price.
The studio is an international vocation and conducts genealogical research in Italy, France, the USA, Central America, Latin America and other European Countries.
Other than Italian, I also speak French, English and Spanish.
Let’s delve into the past and rediscover your origins.
Study of genealogy
The term “genealogy” derives from the composition of the ancient Greek words “geneà” (descendance) and “logos” (study). Indeed, genealogy is the study of the origin and descendance of families, individuals and bloodlines.
The reconstruction of one’s own family tree is an ancient practice, which was popular even among the ancient Greek aristocracy, though these would tend to be rather fantastical, often tracing back one’s bloodline to a hero or a divinity. It was not until the 16th century that genealogy started to become an actual science, mostly in relation to the study of noble family lines.
Nowadays, genealogy preserves its charm and utility.
There is an ever growing number of people interested to learn about their ancestors, their family secrets, and finding relatives scattered around the world.
Often, however, the intervention of a professional genealogist is a necessary choice. Ónoma was founded, indeed, with the intent of providing a proficient, modern and precise service, as well as a cost-effective one.

"With genealogy, I feel like I am bringing ancestors back to life because each person deserves to be remembered.
I love helping
what they have always wanted to know about their family."
